Trick or Treat 2015 Letter: Dear...Candyman? Secret pumpkin?
Hey there! I'm Kharasma @ AO3. I sat out on the sidelines last year, but this year I totally think I can get in on some spooky fun. In general I tend to like a lot of things! Ficlets of any size, and if for some reason any of this inspires art, that's cool too! Some general likes and dislikes go here, and then I'll list specific prompts and DNWs by fandom:
In general, for treats I love: friend/family bonding and comfort, silly days out, reunions and happy endings, romance if the characters/situation call for it, love and loyalty to each other, just...IDK, tossing candy in each others' mouths? Fond reminiscence? Teasing each other? I just love my cute friends and family (and lovers).
In general, for tricks I love: the ghosts of departed loved ones (either canonical death or a new death is fine), skeletons in the closet (literally or figuratively), transformations (werewolves, vampires, that kind of thing), and things that go bump in the night, complete with terrified flashlight investigation. And maybe a cute spider that didn't do anything wrong.
Also feel free to mix them! Romance between vampires, a ghost scene with lots of comforting...I'm pretty easy. And I do love holiday-themed fic, so a focus on Halloween is perfectly okay.
I absolutely do not want: explicit murder/torture or explicit sex to be the sole focus. Innuendo/allusions are fine!
Okay, enough blathering, now on to the specific fandoms!
Back to the Future
(Marty, Doc)
I adore these films, and by far the best thing about them is the unusual but unbreakable bond between Marty and Doc. I love how two lonely guys from very different backgrounds found each other and became the best of friends. There are a lot of opportunities for comfort, reunions, or separations.
One sad problem is the age difference between them. Even with the rejuvenation treatment, Marty's likely to outlive Doc by at least 30 years. Or Marty could do something impulsive and just about get himself killed again...I'd love some post-death fic here, perhaps some ghost visits, or letters from across time?
On the lighter side, well...there's always hanging out in any time period, maybe in a spooky locale. I also love missing scenes---there are a few points in the trilogy where I think to myself 'Doc, you ass, Marty needs you now!' After all they've been through they definitely need some time to recover and have some fun.
And if you're looking to write about them individually, well...Marty's dealing with the ghost of a whole other life only he remembers, but the poor guy also needs a break. He deserves some fun. And Doc can be thrown into just about any historical setting to geek out, but I feel he has skeletons in his closet too.
BttF-specific DNWs: I don't ship Marty/Doc in a romantic sense, but feel free to go as intense with their bond as you want otherwise.

Compilation of Final Fantasy VII
(Aerith, Barret, Cloud, Tifa)
Ah, that old game about the eco-activists and the most anime aesthetics ever. Of the canon I'm only an expert on the original game, Advent Children, and the novellas, but I've absorbed enough to enjoy things set in other points of canon too!
What I love most is the journey of friendship and discovery that the team goes through. They all have huge losses in their background: they've all lost their families due to various tragedies, and they have their way of coping with it. Please, include anyone you want/offered if the mood takes you there...these four are my very favorites, but I cram a lot up in there!
For tricks, well...ghosts is a big theme here too. Aerith is the obvious choice, but I also love AUs involving someone else's death. Biggs, Wedge, Jessie, Dyne, Zack, their families...there are many options. I also love the little quirky supernatural things about the game, like the Touch Mes---a fic about one of the characters stuck as frog (and maybe at risk of being used for a potion ingredient?) would make me laugh.
For treats, I love fun days: at Seventh Heaven, at Costa del Sol, at the Gold Saucer...wherever. Maybe something silly with a masquerade, or sailor suits and swimsuits? Uncanoical happy endings for characters who met grisly fates in canon? And for ships I love any combination: Cloud/Barret, Cloud/Tifa, Cloud/Aerith, Barret/Aerith, Barret/Tifa, Aerith/Tifa, polyamorous combinations...you get the picture. I also love them just all being good friends.
FFVII-specific DNWs: If you focus on a ship, I'd rather not see bashing of other ships or characters.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
(Tommy, Zack, Kim, Billy, Trini, Jason)
This is a light and silly canon that has some spooky moments, and if anyone can take it seriously enough to write a fic for it I'd love you forever!. I love this team because they're all such good friends...since this is a large group and we have OR matching, I'll keep it vague.
For tricks: I'd love to see Rita or Zedd cook up something new in the monster department---maybe something that's genuinely unnerving for the Rangers to battle and makes them question the morality of fighting? Or maybe it's just a monster mash that they need to infiltrate in stupid costumes because Zack swears it will work? Tommy and Kimberly's date goes horribly wrong? You can fit aliens and witches right in with this canon, it's great. Temporary mind control or transformations would be awesome too. Werewolf Jason? Vampire Trini? Sure, let's go for it. And for something darker...well, there's always the legend of the evil Green Ranger (or other evil Ranger of your choice).
For treats: I love fluff! Maybe one of them is the medic after a battle, someone needs to give out hugs, they're celebrating a big victory, or it's snack time and Billy's invention didn't make a mess for once? Or maybe it did and that's half the fun. I love the whole team, and I also love the smaller combinations or solo character studies. If you're hoping to focus on a ship I'm not too picky, I love f/f, m/f, and m/m. Sell me on your fave, I promise I'll be happy.
MMPR-specific DNWs: This is the one canon I don't want permadeath for.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
(Applejack, Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle, Princess Luna)
Ah, the pony show about the magic of friendship. It's my wonderful feel-good show that I keep coming back to, but it also has some hints of dark fantasy that make for a great spooky/silly story. These four are my very favorite characters, but I love them all and please write anyone or everyone who fits into your plans.
For tricks: the show gives us a lot of fodder here. We have vampire transformations, nightmare plagues, Nightmare Night...I'd love to delve into the depths of the characters---secret insecurities, battles with Equestria's past? Applejack's usually underserved in this department. What scares her? Twilight has her princess duties to weigh and her doubts, and Sunset's just a mess of former darkness. Feel free to delve into her evil side! Luna too...she's recovered now, but she clearly carries a big burden that she carries with grace. How does that factor into her yearly pranks?
For treats: I love a happy sappy ending. Maybe someone vanquishes a supernatural threat, the ghosts are placated, or it's just a happy good time in Equestria for once. Applejack could definitely use some bonding time with her friends (she needs more of them and not just her family), maybe Twilight just wants to let go and have wild fun for once in her princessy life, and...well, Sunset still has to ask for forgiveness in Equestria and she now has a lot of love to share. Luna definitely deserves to have more fun with her subjects too!
Zecora is more than welcome to help things along in the way that she does, and I love to see Equestrian myths and legends, though sometimes a simple friendship story is really the best thing of all.
Feel free to incorporate as much Equestria Girls canon as you want, I love it. Ship-wise, I ship any combination of Sunset, Twilight, and AJ...Luna not so much.
MLP-specific DNWs: Please protect these precious ponies. I'd really rather not see trauma occur beyond the scope of what happens on the show.
